臺灣的書目編目規則
中文(含中文、日文、韓文等)多使用中國編目規則第三版，而西文(含英文、歐洲語系等)多使用Anglo-American Cataloging Rules 2nd edition(AACR2)，經比較之後，兩者所規定之項目大抵相同，其中中國編目規則第三版比AACR2多了一項資料類型──拓片。拓片指用染料將硬表面上的文字圖符複製到輕易、便於攜帶的紙張上的技藝。(註一)
個人推論其原因為
1.從文化上來看，中國文字較西洋文字複雜多，使中國書法較能顯示書者寫的心理與性格。
2.從物質上來看，西洋文字在活字版印刷出現後複製較為方便，而中文仍然以手工為主，故拓片資料也較豐富以致於須多分一類。
在圖書類型中，AACR2比中國編目規則第三版多了：Statement relating to a named revision of an edition & Statement of responsibility relating to a named revision of an edition，此兩項為修訂說明而非於編目書目後顯示給讀者之部分。
